St. Gregorios High School, Chembur celebrated Republic Day with the theme ‘‘मेरा भारत महान’. The guests of honour for this event were Ms. Flavia Agnes, the acclaimed lawyer, and Dr. Rajan Welukar, former Vice Chancellor of Mumbai and current Vice Chancellor of ATLAS SkillTech University.
The flavour of the day was Women’s Empowerment and both guests expounded their views on the need for gender equality. The students of the school put up a mesmerising display of both sports and cultural events that included showcasing their prowess in taekwondo, yoga, gymnastics, aerial mallakhamba, song and dance.
The students also exhibited India’s rich and varied textile heritage through a display ‘Weaves of India’. The programme culminated with the beating retreat; the band played the Colonel Boogie.
The school tried to replicate the grandeur of the Republic Day Programme at Lal Kila. Jai Hind!
